ABOUT US

About Me

Born in Victoria, B.C., and raised in a military family, I had the opportunity to live across Canada and abroad—from Chilliwack and Winnipeg to Baden, Germany, and Kingston, ON—before returning to Vancouver Island in 1991.

Career Path

I’ve always been curious about how things work—and how they could work better. That mindset has guided a diverse journey: from youth work at the Boys & Girls Club and Lakeview Youth Custody Centre, to earning an Electronics Engineering Technology diploma at Camosun College. I spent 17 years with TELUS before launching SNAPS—a product born from both frustration and fascination.

The Idea Behind SNAPS

Like most people, I’d misplaced more than a few pairs of readers. But the final straw was lying under my truck, glasses slipping out of my collar for the ninth time. With rare-earth magnets from a past prototype idea, I developed the first version of SNAPS overnight. It has since evolved and continues to improve.

The Vision

At heart, I hope people find SNAPS as helpful as I do. My goal is for it to become one of those things you reach for before your phone, wallet, or even your coffee.

Greetings,

Doug
